Melissa Mathews taught at Norbeck for 16 years before taking the Head of School role in 2018. She majored in Elementary Education at University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Shortly after graduating, Melissa became a teacher for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) where she taught Kindergarten, second and fifth grades for six years. Melissa attended the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies in 2003-2004, where she earned her Early Childhood Montessori credential. She joined the Norbeck Montessori family in 2002 as a Kindergarten teacher in our Big K program. Melissa has two children, who also attended Norbeck Montessori through their Kindergarten years.
